Film structure 1)-Opening scene- protagonist discovers the tent, finds out it has changed location when he gets out. 6)- second scene - He gets back in his car after realising he is safe and has made it home, finds one last note stuck to his steering wheel, a quick cut hides what the note says. 2)-3rd scene- in the middle of a field, with a note stuck to a tree nearby. It tells him to get back in the tent, but the tent is no longer there. He sees it in the distance and begins to walk over to it.  5)-4 th scene- he gets out the tent and he is back where he started, he looks around and sees birds flying all around, then falls backwards. 3)-5th scene-  he gets out the tent and he is in the middle of some woodland, with a recently put out fire by him, he turns around and sees someone get in the tent but they disappear when he looks inside.  4)6th scene- he follows on after him after pouring water on the fire, he gets out the tent, with a mirrored version of himself getting out
Opening scene shoot plan  The shoot will take place at night time, the main character will be driving a car, and a tent is in the middle of the road he is driving down, the car lights shine on the tent, and a continuous take is used to show the main character inside the car, winding the window down to take a look, and then getting out to inspect the tent. A point of view shot shows him inside the tent which then cuts to a shot  of the cars headlights  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDv2OYKICoc&t=223s

Ideas developed 2

Developing film ideas. No longer following the object, but the camping trip/ tent will still be incorporated. Complex structure/ narrative. Which follows one persons story from different angles, one is told by a voiceover, the other by writing in a journal, to start with, both of these do not match, but they meet in the middle eventually. Someone parks on top of a multi story car park at night time, and notices an open tent with nobody inside, he heads in and shuts the tent after him as he starts to inspect what is inside. He then opens the tent up slightly to make sure no one saw him, and its day time, light is peering through the tent, he rushes to open the tent and jumps out of it, realising he is on the same multi story car park, but it is a bright, sunny day. Realising what he has discovered, he tries to ring his friends but with no answer. Then it cuts to the other side of the story, with the same person but at the end of the quest, realising he is safe and making the final vo
Cinematic ideas Extremely shallow focus to show how the  character is isolated and alone, and although another version of himself is also out there, he doesn't know this, so the closer they get together, the less shallow the focus becomes. Many establishing shots from above, using a drone, this will highlight to the viewer that the main character has changed environment. Shoot the whole film on a Steadicam rather than handheld, this is just a lot more aesthetically pleasing and seamless. I would like to make the entire film seem like its all one take, especially the scenes where he goes into the tent. Editing Cinematic colour grading similar to inception will be applied. Seamless cuts inside the tent will also be applied, gradual transitions from night to day. For the final scene i will have to clone the main character, as they are going to come face to face for the first time, this needs to be the best part of the whole film, so it needs to look perfect and seamless. They wi

Shot 3 - mid close shot, over the shoulder shot showing the protagonist and tent. Shot 4 - mid shot, shot from inside the tent looking at the protagonist. Shot 5- tracking mid shot, showing him get in the tent. Shot 6- Close up shot of him zipping the tent up after him. Shot 7- Close up shot of him opening up the tent with light rays coming through the tent.

Original ideas. (now changed)

Short film rough ideas- experimental? Someone buys an object with an unsure value, but could be sentimental and loses it/misplaces it on a bench or someplace else. The object is then picked up by numerous people and left in many places along the way. The story is a full cycle and the person ends up finding the same object in the same place. Cinematic ideas Use of hyper lapse and sped up parts of the film to highlight the manic environment in which the object was left. Aerial shots to show the vastness of the location and how it is going to be impossible to find. Very cinematic but maybe de-saturated colour grading, disorientating shots and a range of speeds and playback types (forward and backwards ) Maybe multiple different outcomes to the film, ie different people find it and what they do with it. The object may also go around the world, on planes or on trains, just to reduce the chance of it being found, especially in the same place where it was left. Opening sce
Mood board The tent will be the main focus of the film, the character will step inside, and it will take him to a different place, the two characters will eventually be teleported to the same place where they meet. The opening scene will take place on the top of a multi story car park, the main character parks on top and notices the tent, after surveying the area he notices no one is around so he goes inside the tent to have a look. This is where he realising what the tent does. I would like my film to follow a similar structure to Memento, the way the same character's story is told both from the start and the end, although i dont want his story to be the same in my film, i think i will use the same structure. the main character A will write all his discoveries into a journal, this will not match with the voiceover at the start, but eventually they will cross over. One of the locations will be a woodland, as i think this could look extremely cinematic, and cou

Auteur presentation study -  Link to presentation Overall, i believe my Auteur presentation on Del Toro went well. I believe i explored many of his popular films in a successful manner and highlighted his signature styles within these chosen films. I think the visuals to do with colour palette worked well because it showed exactly how Del Tero uses colours with visual evidence. I also believe my explanation/ analysis of his signature styles went well, but i could have been less descriptive and include more core knowledge. To make my presentation better, i could have included video essays or interviews from other auteur theorists as this would have backed up the auteur theory even more. Or displaced the theory as a whole. In terms of presenting my research, i believed i could have been stronger as i didn't talk about much which wasn't in my presentation, which meant the whole thing ran slightly short.
Nick broomfield-Biggie and Tupac Voice of god used throughout Participatory- Broomfield has an influence on the story as he goes round asking questions. Both use background music to convey the mood Broomfield is a 'run and gun' style director, goes and meets with people he wants to talk to rather than calling them in. Whereas Broomfield tends to leave shots running for much longer
