Overall, i believe my Auteur presentation on Del Toro went well. I believe i explored many of his popular films in a successful manner and highlighted his signature styles within these chosen films. I think the visuals to do with colour palette worked well because it showed exactly how Del Tero uses colours with visual evidence. I also believe my explanation/ analysis of his signature styles went well, but i could have been less descriptive and include more core knowledge.
To make my presentation better, i could have included video essays or interviews from other auteur theorists as this would have backed up the auteur theory even more. Or displaced the theory as a whole. In terms of presenting my research, i believed i could have been stronger as i didn't talk about much which wasn't in my presentation, which meant the whole thing ran slightly short.

Filled with curiosity he gets in the tent and zips it up so that no one sees him. Shoot 3 shots and editing drone shot This drone shot was extremely hard to perform as i had to fly it backwards under a fallen tree which although wasn't very high, the shape of it as well as the hanging branches made it difficult to fly through and get the shot.  Colour grading- i had to colour grade this shot slightly different compared to the other shots, because the drone isn't as good in low light compared to a camera. I had to de-noise the image using the median tool, and i had to increase the shadows much more than i usually would. Shot of keys + meaning explained The meaning of the keys and why they are shown so obviously is because the object acts as a Macguffin, the character always checks to have the keys, and if he doesn't then he knows something is wrong. I added a humming sound effect when he picks up the keys to highlight the importance of the object, picking up the keys in turn broke the paradox, which is why he sees himself get in the tent...

Film opening https://youtu.be/rAYNhlvxehY Editing techniques Mask transition Track the object which you want to mask frame by frame using the free draw bezier, after each frame press the arrow positioned in the effect controls to advance the clip forward by one frame, continue this process until the whole clip has been masked away and the next clip is underneath. Some options can be altered after the edit is complete, increasing the feather makes the line seem smoother and more natural. I got the inspiration for this transition from Pan's labyrinth. After working out how to apply the transition to basic objects, i applied it to more complex ones such as a shoe, i may also look to do it inside a tent, so when the tent opens, the next shot follows from outside. Colour grading For the colour grade, i usually (depending on the shot) increase the warmth of the image as i find this much more appealing than a cooler look.
